some

caves

are

a

bit

wet

and

slippery.

Beaches

Your

to

Bermuda

As

summer

approaches,

many

kids

and

teenagers

may

find

that

they

have

more

time

in

hand.

One

great

way

to

make

use

of

the

extra

time

is

to

go

on

an

adventure

and

travel.

Clearly,

I

am

not

a

naturally

adventurous

person,

but

I

have

found

that

taking

risks

and

challenging

myself

to

explore

and

travel

to

unfamiliar

places

can

be

a

very

rewarding

experience.

Because

I

am

usually

quite

busy

during

the

school

year,

most

of

my

travels

take

place

during

the

summer.

Over

the

past

few

summers,

I

have

hiked

in

the

Grand

Canyon,

explored

Niagara

Falls,

and

camped

out

in

upstate

New

York.

Although

these

experiences

are

varied,

they

are

similar

in

that

they

instill

a

sense

of

appreciation

for

nature

and

a

more

balanced

view

on

life.

When

I

hiked

in

the

Grand

Canyon,

for

example,

I

was

in

awe

of

the

geological

process

that

shaped

the

canyon.

Adventures,

of

course,

are

not

limited

to

hiking.

There

are

many

other

choices,

such

as

camping,

volunteering

in

a

foreign

environment

and

travelling

to

different

countries.

In

my

opinion,

adventures

are

more

enjoyable

with

family

or

a

few

friends.

There

is

a

sense

of

bonding

that

one

only

gets

through

spending

time

together

in

outdoor

adventures.

For

example,

when

I

was

in

Boy

Scouts,

I

often

went

on

weekend

camping

trips

with

my

friends.

When

I

came

back

from

a

Boy

Scouts

camping

trip,

I

often

was

eager

to

go

outside

more

and

explore

the

parks

and

nature

around

me.

Next

fall,

I

will

attend

college.

In

the

meantime,

though,

I

hope

to

make

the

most

of

my

summer

to

explore

and

travel.

Now,

I

am

planning

on

hiking

and

camping

out

in

Maine.

When

I

visited

Maine

last

fall,

I

was

amazed

by

how

beautiful

it

was,

and

I

really

hope

to

enjoy

the

beauty

of

nature.4.We

can

learn

from

the

first

paragraph

that

the

author

_____.A.likes

travelling

with

his

father

take

good

care

of

At

12,

my

father

decided

to

take

me

on

a

trip

to

France.

I

had

never

been

out

of

the

country

before,

so

I

was

very

excited.

My

aunt,

my

mother

and

I

went

around

with

my

father

showing

us

all

the

unbelievable

sites

in

Paris.

None

of

us

spoke

much

French

but

we

loved

the

city.

We

had

taken

the

subway

all

over

the

city

and

were

congratulating

ourselves

on

our

mastering

what

was

honestly

an

excellent

subway

design

that

was

pretty

easy

to

follow.

We

decided

to

visit

Versailles

by

train.

We

chatted

happily

along

the

way

until

my

father

realized

we

were

far

into

the

French

countryside

and

no

one

around

spoke

English.

We

reached

the

end

of

the

line

and

felt

afraid

when

everyone

finally

left

the

train.

An

old

man

and

his

grandchild

noticed

us

and

came

to

help.

He

spoke

no

English,

so

in

broken

French

we

tried

to

explain.

When

he

finally

understood,

this

great

man

settled

his

grandson

and

showed

us

to

the

correct

train

and

then

got

on

it

with

us.

Later,

we

knew

the

truth

that

there

was

a

train

transfer

(轉乘)

and

he

didn’t

want

us

to

miss

it.

This

kind

man

rode

a

train

for

an

hour

and

a

half

out

of

his

way

to

make

sure

that

three

Americans

got

where

they

wanted

to

be.

He

refused

to

let

us

pay

for

his

ticket.

He

did

it

all

with

a

gentle

smile

and

patted

our

hands

gently

at

the

stop.

Then

in

his

quiet

way,

he

boarded

the

train

to

return

the

way

he

had

come.

What

impressed

me

most

was

the

man

and

his

kindness

during

the

amazing

trip.

Some

Americans

think

the

French

are

rude

for

some

reason,

but

I

always

try

to

persuade

them

to

change

their

minds

with

this

very

story.8.What

to

the

author

and

his

family

on

the

train?(

the

signs

of

the

train

at

the

right

time.C.Their

it

hard

In

early

September,

Sally

and

Jon

Watkinson

found

something

unusual

on

their

dog’

s

back.

A

baby

possum

(負鼠)

held

on

to

the

coat

of

their

dog,

Kato.

“Kato

seemed

to

barely

notice

it

was

there,”

Sally

posted

on

Facebook.

“It’

s

most

surprising

that

Kato

was

not

barking

madly

at

it.”

The

couple

spent

the

day

searching

for

a

safe

place

to

drop

off

the

possum.

After

looking

for

wildlife

rescue

organizations,

they

eventually

brought

their

dog

into

the

vet

(獸醫診所)

with

the

animal

still

attached.

The

vet

staff

removed

the

baby,

which

they

determined

to

be

a

little

girl,

to

a

wildlife

career.

Although

wildlife

rescuers

are

trying

to

locate

the

baby’

s

mother,

they

have

been

unsuccessful

so

far.

Only

a

day

later,

it

happened

again

on

the

same

dog.

“UPDATE!!!

It

happened

again!!!”

Sally

updated

on

Facebook.

“Today

I

found

Kato

again

with

another

baby

possum,

this

time

on

his

actual

back.”

According

to

Sally,

this

possum

seemed

to

be

digging

into

Kato

more,

but

again

the

dog

didn’

t

seem

to

mind.

“This

time,

the

vet

nurse

nearly

fell

off

her

chair

when

we

turned

up,”

Sally

said.

In

her

post,

Sally

added

that

the

initial

(最初的)

possum

was

doing

well.

The

second

possum

was

a

boy

who

was

also

sent

to

a

wildlife

shelter.

According

to

the

nurse,

possums

usually

deliver

babies

of

two

or

three,

so

the

Watkinsons

need

to

keep

their

eyes

open

for

a

third

possum

rider.

In

the

comments,

Sally

said

that

she

thinks

the

possum

will

be

okay.

“He’

s

probably

not

quite

weaned

(斷奶)

yet

but

seemed

well

enough

and

was

struggling

on

for

dear

life,”

she

wrote.

“I

think

he

found

the

right

dog

for

that.”

Commenters

added

that

this

wasn’

t

the

first

time

a

dog

had

adopted(收養)

a

possum.

Dog

owners

told

stories

of

possums

“riding”

their

dogs

and

following

their

dogs

around.

If

you

own

a

dog,

check

its

fur

for

possible

riders.12.What

did

the

dog

surprise

its

masters

most?(

)A.It

behaved

like

a

fool.

B.It

treated

a

possum

as

its

enemy.C.It

didn’

t

want

to

leave

the

possum.

D.It

was

very

calm

with

You

don’t

need

to

travel

far

away

to

write

a

travel

diary.

Your

writing

can

start

with

a

family

vacation

or

a

weekend

getaway.

All

you

need

is

a

destination

or

a

place

of

departure

Your

trip

journal

can

begin

before

your

Use

your

to

start

planning

the

things

you

want

to

do.

It

can

be

a

cool

restaurant

where

you

want

to

eat,

a

hike

you

want

to

go

on

or

different

sights

you

want

to

see.D

Write

about

what

you

imagine

it

will

be.

Sometimes

when

you

travel,

your

destination

is

wildly

different

from

what

you

expected.

Maybe

you

expected

the

local

food

to

be

bad

but

it

turned

out

to

be

delicious.

17.

.

Maybe

you

thought

you

would

not

be

comfortable

with

the

climate

while

you

adapted

to

it.

Whatever,

try

to

write

it

down

before

you

arrive.

It

will

be

interesting

to

compare

these

predictions

with

what

you

have

actually

It

things

when

they

are

fresh

with

time

So

try

to

write

as

much

as

you

can

during

travelling

every

if

you

can.

Your

journals

don’t

have

to

be

long,

but

letting

them

express

your

feelings

is

the

Combining

pictures

your

of

what

Mine

does.

When

I

Suddenly,

I

should

the

situation

due

I

didn’t.

Luckily,

Robert

Downey

He

an

He

The

Robert

surely

He

stayed

since

he’d

in

I

came

across

Robert

a

fancy

restaurant.

I

was

to

respect

people’s

privacy

and

never

someone

But

on

this

day,

I

decided

to

“I

and

I

told

him

the

story.

“I

just

want

to

tell

you

that

it

is

simply

the

kindest

act

I’ve

ever

.

It’s
