theyfeltlessjudgedbymembersoftheirowngroup.Inoneexperiment,participantswere
offeredthechoicebetweencandyandfruitasasnack.Wheninthepresenceofanunknown
studentfromtheirownuniversity,only12percentofstudentsselectedthehealthieroption.
However,thisnumberwas31percentwheninthepresenceofanunknownstudentfrom
anotheruniversity.Otherexperimentsshowedsimilarresultsbasedonracialgroup.What'sthe
reasonforthispattern?Thestudyfoundthatpeoplefeeljudgedtoalargerextentbymembersof
