31.情態動詞may，might

may和might屬于情態動詞。情態動詞本身有一定的含義，為謂語動詞增添情感色彩，表示說話人對有關行為或事物的態度和看法。情態動詞一般無人稱和數的變化，后面只能接動詞原形，其否定形式是在情態動詞后面加not。例如：may

not,

might

not。

（1）may和might表示推測，一般用在陳述句中，有“或許，可能”之意，但might表示較多的懷疑，較may更加不肯定，語氣更委婉。例如：

He

may

be

in

the

park

now.他現在說不定在公園里。

He

might

be

in

the

park

now.

I’m

not

sure.

他也許在公園。我不確定。

（2）might是may的過去式，一般情況下，如果所推測的事情是過去發生的就用might來表示；如果所推測的事情是眼前的或將來發生的，用may或might都可以。例如：

week.她下周可能去英格蘭。（3）may還可以用于征求對方意見，或請求別人允許。一般情況下，用may提問，肯定回答時用may，否定回答時用mustn’t。例如：—MayIuseyourphonetohaveacallIleftmineathome.我可以借用一下你的嗎？我的落在家里了。—Yes,youmay./No,youmustn’t.可以，用吧!/不，不可以。2.英語中表示可能的方式除了情態動詞may/might外，還可以通過will以及其他表示“可能”的形容詞或副詞表達這一含義。常見句型有：

”表示“（對某人而言）做某事是可能的”。例如：
