報刊閱讀技巧

1、經過標題把握文章精華。標題是一篇文章關鍵，尤其是一篇報道。報刊上標題能夠披露一些最主要信息，所以在進行報刊閱讀時候，首先把標題細讀兩邊，抓住文章中心思想。

2、經過第一段把握文章主要內容。在一篇敘述性報刊文章中，對第一段要詳細閱讀，因為往往作者在第一段就會給出事件主要要素，如時間、地點、人物、主要事件等。所以在進行報刊閱讀時候，抓住第一段內容，相當于抓住了文章主要內容。

這是一篇經典報道性文章。文章先描述了1994年發生在加利福尼亞南部地域theBigOne，一次大地震結果。然后借一個在那次地震中死里逃生家庭之口，再現了地震慘烈情景，讓讀者有如親身經歷那場浩劫。報道隨即談到，即使科技發展到一定程度，能夠較為成功地預測地震發生時間和震級，但依然不能完全地掌控地震活動情況。

學習句中兩個定語從句。anearthquakemeasuring6.6ontheRichterscale=anearthquakethatmeasured6.6ontheRichterscale，“測量為里氏6.6級地震”。peoplelivingnearLosAngeles…=peoplewholivenearLosAngeles…，“住在洛杉磯附近人們”。

Thedisasterleftatleast55peopledead,destroyedordamagedthousandsofhomes,broughtdownmajorhighways,andrupturedgasandwatermains.這場災難造成了最少55人死亡，摧毀破壞了成千上萬所房屋，破壞了公路干線，造成了煤氣和主輸水管道破裂。造成損失預計在300億美元左右。這是一個簡單句，只有一個主語，但有幾個并列謂語動詞，并列謂語部分用逗號隔開，最終兩個謂語動詞之間要用一個and隔開。如：Jackboughtapackofcigarettes,unwrappedit,tookoneoutandlitit.Jack買了一包煙，打開它，取出一根，點燃了。

EventhoughtheresidentsofCaliforniahavealwaysrealizedthatearthquakesareaveryrealthreat,mostsaygoingthroughoneisanexperiencethatyoucan’timagineuntilit’sactuallyhappened.即使加利福尼亞居民都一直意識到地震威脅是現實，可很多人說地震這種經歷，在它真正發生之前你是無法想象。這是個轉折關系復合句，eventhough，“即使，即便”。

…earthquakesareaveryrealthreat.主謂是復數，賓語是單數，是把主語看成一類現象來看，“地震是一個真實威脅”。

not…(A)until…(B)，“直到(B)……才……(A)”。not也能夠用其它否定副詞代替，如課文中：…butIneverfeltituntilIwastogetherwithmyfamilyoutsideandsawthatmyfeetwerebleeding.我和家人到了外面看到我腳流血時候才發覺（我腳破了）。

Theymanagedtoescapesafely,exceptforthecutsonJoan’sbarefeet.他們總算安全逃脫，只是瓊光腳給劃破了。

exceptfor，“除了”，表示美中不足遺憾。如：Thepaintingismostlyperfect,exceptforasmalltaintontheleftmarginofthepaper.這幅畫幾乎完美無缺，只可惜畫紙左邊有一個小污點。

Noteveryonewasthatfortunate.并非全部些人都那么幸運。用否定詞not開頭后接一個泛指代詞，用來表示部分否定。如：

Notallarepresent.不是全部些人都出席了（有部分人沒有出席）。Notanyoneisresponsibleforthat.不是任何人都有責任（有部分人沒有責任）。

Couldanyonehavepredictedthisquake?有些人預測到了這場地震嗎？

情態動詞+現在完成時，用來猜測已經發生動作。如：Severalpeoplemusthavewoundedinthetrafficaccident.這場車禍中一定有幾個人受傷了。變為普通疑問句就是：Mustseveralpeoplehavewoundedinthetrafficaccident?回答：Yes,theymust./No,theymustn’t.

Intheareaswheretheycan’tpass,pressurebuilds,eventuallyeruptingintoanearthquake.在移動不開地方，就產生了壓力，最終造成地震暴發。

這句話主干其實就是pressurebuilds，前面部分intheareawheretheycan’tpass是地點狀語，“在移動不開地方”，后面部分是伴隨狀語，說明pressurebuilds產生結果，eventuallyeruptingintoanearthquake=whicheventuallyeruptsintoanearthquake，“最終造成地震暴發”。

Theaftershocksofthequakecangivescientistssomehelpinmappingoutwherethesehiddenfaultlinesare.一場地震余震能夠幫助科學家預先繪出隱藏著斷裂帶位置。

1．togivesb.sth.，這里give后接雙賓語，類似使用方法動詞還有tell，ask，lend等。如：Tellherthetruth,orshewillfindnothing.告訴她真相，不然她什么也不知道。
