Today, I am very glad to have this opportunity to share my teaching methods with you. Itll be my great honor to have your commentary after my interpretation. My to

2、pic is “What does he look like ?” taken from Book ,Unit 9 Section A of Go for it . I divided it into five parts to talk about. They are Analysis of the learning materials , Analysis of the students, Learning methods, Learning procedures and Blackboard design. 一、Analysis of the learning materials: Il

3、l talk about my understanding of this learning material. Im going to make it into three parts: Status and function of this class, Learning aims and demands, and Learning important and difficult points.A. Status and function of this class This is an important lesson in this unit. We all know that lan

4、guage is for communication.Words and sentences are the cells of language. In this lesson ,the students will learn some new words and phrases to describe peoples looks and they will do some listening, speaking and writing practice to have the basic ability of this unit. Learn it well, they can do fol

5、lowing tasks easily. B. Learning aims and demands (1) Learn the new words and expressions in this section according to the direct-viewing method.New words and expressions:curly, straight, tall, medium, height, of medium height, thin, heavy, build, of medium build(2) Learn how to describe peoples loo

6、ks according to the recalling method. What does he look like? He is really tall.What does she look like? She has long straight hair.What do they look like? Theyre of medium build.Is he tall or short? He isnt tall or short. He is of medium height.(3) Train the ability of communication from developing

7、 the ability of listening and speaking.C. Learning important and difficult pointsImportant points:The new words and sentences used to describe a person.Difficult points: (1) The differences between “He is .” and “He has .”. (2) A new sentence structure “Is he tall or short?” (3) The different meanin

8、g of these two sentences: What does he look like? What does he like? 二、Analysis of the studentsStudents of this age can be involved in class easily if the topic is interesting, and relates to their daily life closely. They have some basic skills on learning English, listening, speaking, reading and

9、writing. They have learned how to describe an animal in unit 5. They may eager to know how to describe a person they know after my leading. However, they are lack of vocabulary, and some of them may find it easy to learn, but its more difficult to communicate with others. Sometimes, its only because

10、 they are afraid of making mistakes. 三、Learning methodsAccording to the analysis of students, I plan to have this class in various ways:In order to make the class lively and the students can learn it easily , I will use the multi-media computer.In learning the new words and expressions, Ill give stu

11、dents some real pictures on the screen. They can learn the new words following the direct-viewing method.In learning the sentences, Ill recall students ability of describing an animal. They can flash to the important sentences in this unit under the recollecting method.In listening and some game par

12、ts, students do activities according to the TBLM.In order to do some oral practice, they need to do it in pairs or groups.Whats more, “learning by doing , learning by using”, I decided to choose the situation teaching method to give the situation to students, and let them learn the knowledge by list

13、ening and speaking. Give them more chance to practice. 四、Learning procedures1. Warming-up.After saying hello to the students, Id ask students some easy questions, like “Do you like English?” “How do you get to school?” “What time do you usually get up?” etc. And Ill especially ask them, “Do you like

14、 animals? What kind of animals do you like?”Then, show some pictures about animals on the screen. Ask them to say something about the animals using what they have learned. (Im not only letting them think in English, but also recalling their ability to describe an animal.)2. Presentation.In this part

15、, Ill say, “Animals are our friends. We also have some real friends- a person behind you. You have already known how to describe an animal, but do you know how to describe a person? ”(Im trying to have students willing to learn the new words and expressions.)Then, Ill lead them to find out the three

16、 main parts to describe a person:a. hairb. buildc. heightAfter that, Id show some pictures to teach them how to describe the looks:long hair, short hair, curly hair, straight hair, tall, short, of medium build, heavy, thin, of medium heightThrough learning, Ill try to involve all of the students to

17、practice the words and expressions. They need more practice to fill their English ability.(The direct viewing learning method gives students a straight view to English. Some of the words they have already learned.)3. Whats new?After learning the new words and expressions, Id draw two pictures on the

18、 blackboard. One is thin and tall, and has long curly hair. The other one is heavy and short, and has short straight hair. Ill have students describe the two persons in sentences. They can learn the target sentences in this unit.- What does he look like?- He has short straight hair. He is short. He

19、is heavy.- What does she look like?- She has long curly hair. She is tall. She is thin.Then, point out the sentence “What does he look like?” Recall students about the sentence “What does he like?” Have them think about the different answers to the two sentences. Call attention to “look”.After that,

20、 point out the other two sentences “He has short straight hair.” and “He is short. ” Ask students to work in pairs to talk about the different usage of “He has .” and “He is .”. Then Ill let the students have a summary by themselves to know when to use “have” and when to use “is”.(Students using the

21、 knowledge they have learned to rebuild the new knowledge they will learn. They find it, so they can use it easily.)4、Sentence practiceIn this part, I will choose some photos of famous persons. Have students use the target sentences to describe the persons. (Most of the students have great interests

22、 in famous persons. The pictures of famous persons can attract their great interests in the sentences. )5、 DialogueIn this part, Ill firstly have students listen to 1b, a small conversation about Amys friend.Students listen and try to fill in the blanks in the picture.Girl: Is that your friend?Amy:

23、No, it isnt.Girl: What does he look like? Is he short or tall?Amy: Well, hes really _. And he has _.Then, have students listen again and find Amys friend in the picture.Then, Ill call attention to the sentence “Is he short or tall?” Have students pay attention to “or”. Its different from the General

24、 Questions we have learned. It doesnt need to be answered by “Yes” or “No”. After that, do 1c. Imagine one of the people in 1a is your friend. Describe your friend. Your partner will find him/her.A: What does your friend look like?B: Shes of medium height, and she has long straight hair.(Students le

25、arn the sentences from listening to making. ) 6、Dialogue practiceIll have students work in pairs to make a conversation to ask and answer about the looks of a student around them. Three minutes later, have some pairs to show their dialogues and others guess who they talk about.(Talking about the top

26、ic around them usually can quickly involve students interests. And students are always interested in guessing. So this practice can give them a chance to practice and have them practice effectively.)7、Class practice Do 3a. Write these words in the correct box. short hai
