Material and Manufacture 5.1Material :5.1.1The material of manufacture shall be cast rod, bar, or billets of Copper Alloy UNS No. C51000, C52100, C52400, C53400, or C54400as speciedin the ordering information and of such soundness as to be suitable for processi

13、ng in to the products prescribed herein.N OTE 1CopperAlloy UNS Nos. C53400and C54400are free machining and are suitable for screw-machine products.5.2Manufacture :5.2.1The product shall be manufactured by such hot-working, cold-working, and annealing processes as to

15、produce a uniform wrought structure in the nishedproduct.5.2.2The product shall be hot or cold worked to the nishedsize and subsequently annealed, when required, to meet the temper properties specied.6. Chemical Composition6.1The material shall conform to the composition require-ments speciedin Tabl

16、e 1for the Copper Alloy UNS No. designation named in the ordering information.6.1.1These composition limits do not preclude the presence of other elements. When required, limits shall be established and analysis required for unnamed elements by agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser.6.

17、2Copper may be taken as the difference between the sum of all elements analyzed and 100%.6.3When all elements speciedin Table 1for the Copper Alloy UNS No. named in the ordering information are deter-mined, the sum of results shall be 99.5%min.7. Temper7.1Rod and Bar :7.1.1The standard tempers for r

18、od and bar produced under this specicationare identiedin Table 2or Table 3. 7.2Shapes :7.2.1The temper for shapes is subject to agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser and the agreement shall be a part of the contract or purchase order.8. Mechanical Property Requirements 8.1Tensile Requ

19、irements :8.1.1Rod and Bar :8.1.1.1Rod and bar furnished under this specicationshall conform to the tensile requirements prescribed in Table 2or Table 3for the speciedCopper Alloy UNS No. designation, temper, cross-section, and size when tested in accordance with Test Methods E 8or E 8M. 8.1.2Shapes

20、 :8.1.2.1The tensile requirements for shapes shall be subject to agreement between the manufacturer and the purchaser and the agreement shall be a part of the contract or purchase order. 9. Piston-Finish9.1When speciedin the contract or purchase order, round rod over 12-in. 12-mmdiameter shall be fu

21、rnished as piston-nishedrod or shafting.10. Purchases for U.S. Government10.1When speciedin the contract or purchase order, product purchased for agencies of the U.S. government shall conform to the additional requirements prescribed in the Supplementary Requirements section of SpecicationB 249/B 24
