2、anatory) paper explains something to the audie nee.* an arGUmENTaTIVE (persuasive) paper makes a claim about a topic and justifies this claim with specific evide nee. The claim could be an opinion, a policy proposal, an evaluati on, a cause-a nd-effect stateme nt, or an in terpretati on. The goal of

3、 the argume ntative paper is to convince the audie nee that the claim is true based on the evide nee provided.If you are writ ing a text which does not fall un der these three categories (ex. a narrative), a thesis statement somewhere in the first paragraph could still be helpful to your reader.2. Literary scholars call them as literary theories.The first one is mimetic where you look into the realities the material copies or represe nts. This dis

14、cussion comes naturally as you delineate the main elements of the material you are evaluati ng.The second one is expressive where you check how the author ' s biography and milieu affect or defi ne the meaning of the work.The third one is affective where you discuss the effect of the material to

15、you as a reader, or how does the material leaves an impact.The last one is objective which is the focus of most literary research these days. This study calls for a detailed discussi on of how the eleme nts of the literary piece con tribute to the overall value of the work. These four theories are in separable.as you discuss one, the other theories come in naturally.These are key words that may help you defi ne your literary assumpti on so
