You can go to different kinds of museums, parks or cinemas. You can also buy things from all over the world. But there are some serious problems in big cities, too. It is expensive to live there and there are also too many people. Every year many people move to the cities to find work, to study at good schools. But sometimes these people cannot find work or good places to live in. So it is hard to keep the cities safe and clean. Some people enjoy living in big cities, others do not. So before moving to a big city, you must think about the problems of living there.第二部分:閱讀理解(共兩節,滿分40分)第一節(共15小題;每小題2分,滿分30分)閱讀下面的短文,從每題所給的四個選項(A、B、C、D)中,選出最佳選項。A(2015唐山一中高一期中)If you want to get the most out of the study of a language, you must also read for pleasure: novels, plays, travel books, and so on. And in reading books of this kind the important thing is to_get_on_with_reading;_to try to grasp what the writer is going to tell you in the book as a whole. This is impossible if you stop and think over the meaning of every single word which happens to be unfamiliar. You can not enjoy a story if you stop half a dozen times on every page in order to look up words in the dictionary. You may even prevent yourself from understanding the story as a whole by doing this. When you are reading books of this kind, therefore, you will usually have to rely mainly on the context to help you. If you meet an unfamiliar word, do not let it take too much of your attention from the main thread(主線) of the story. In all probability you will meet the same word again a few pages later on in a slightly different context, and each time you see it that your understanding of it will become more exact.文章大意:本文向我們介紹了閱讀小說、戲劇和游記類文章的一種速讀法。21The phrase “to get on with reading” in the passage has the same meaning as “_”Ato try to grasp the meaning of every sentence in the bookBto try to catch the meaning of every word in the bookCto try to understand all the writer is going to tell youDto try to understand the main idea of the book答案:D推理判斷題。由第一段第二句話“to try to grasp what the writer is going to tell you in the book as a whole.”可知,是理解文章的主旨大意的意思。22. When you meet new words in reading such kinds of books, youd better _.Astop and look them up in a dictionary Bstop and think them overCtry to guess their meanings from the context Dhave none of them答案:C推理判斷題。由第二段后兩句話可知,遇到生詞,應該利用上下文推測詞義。23. From the passage the best way to read novels, plays and travel books is_.Ato read very slowlyBto read quickly and not too carefullyCto read very carefully Dto read very seriously答案:B推理判斷題。由第一段可推知,讀小說、戲劇和游記最好的辦法是快讀不要停頓,即粗略地讀。24. The best title for this passage is “_”ARead for Pleasure BGet on with the BooksCReading Skills DThe Importance of Reading答案:C主旨大意題。由文章大意可知。BIf you want to become a fluent English speaker you should take some advice: There are four skills in learning English. They are reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The most important thing you must remember is that if you want to improve your speaking and writing skills you should first master the skills of reading and listening.Read as much as you can. But your reading must be active. It means that you must think about the meaning of the sentence, the meaning of the unfamiliar words, etc. There is no need for you to pay much attention to grammars or try to understand all the unfamiliar words you come_across,but the fact that you see them for the first time and recognize them whenever you see them, for example, in other passages or books, is enough. It would be better to prepare yourself a notebook so you can write down the important words or sentences in it.As for listening, there are two choices: besides reading, you can listen every day for about 30 minutes. You can only pay attention to your reading and become skillful at your reading, then you can catch up on your listening. Since you have lots of inputs in your mind, you can easily guess what the speaker is going to say. This never means that you should not practise listening. For listening you can listen to cartoons or some movies that are specially made for children. Their languages are easy. Or if you are good at listening you can listen to VOA or BBC programs every day. Again the thing to remember is being active in listening and preferably taking some notes. If you follow these pieces of advice, your speaking and writing will improve automatically, and you can be sure that with a little effort they will become perfect. 文章大意:本文闡述了如何通過提高閱讀和聽力技能,從而帶動說和寫的技能,成為a fluent English speaker。25According to the author, which should you improve first among the four skills?AReading and listening.BReading and writing.CWriting and speaking. DSpeaking and listening.答案:A細節理解題。由第一段最后一句可知,作者認為要想提高說和寫的能力,首先要掌握讀和聽。26The underlined phrase “come across” in the second paragraph can probably be replaced by “_”Ameet by accident BdiscoverCfind on purpose Dlook for答案:A詞義猜測題。此處是告訴讀者沒有必要去理解遇到的所有的不熟悉的單詞,由此推知come across指“偶然遇到”。27The author seems to agree with the view that _.Aeveryone should listen to VOA or BBC programs every day Byou neednt practise listening if you keep on reading every dayCbeing good at reading is helpful in improving your listeningDyou should take notes of whatever you are hearing答案:C觀點態度題,由第三段第二句可知,作者認為多閱讀有助于提高聽力水平。C(2014長安一中高一期末)I was in a strange city I didnt know at all, and whats more, I could not speak a word of the language. On my second day I got on the first bus that passed, rode on it for several stops, then got off and walked on. The first two hours passed pleasantly enough, then I decided to turn back to my hotel for lunch. After walking about for some time, I decided I had better ask the way. The trouble was that the only word I knew of the language was the name of the street in which I lived, and even that I pronounced badly. I stopped to ask a newspaperseller. He handed me a paper. I shook my head and repeated the name of the street and he put the paper into my hands. I had to give him some money and went on my way. The next person I asked was a policeman. He listened to me carefully, nodded and gently took me by the arm. There was a strange look in his eyes as he pointed left and right and left again. I nodded politely and began walking in the direction he pointed.About an hour passed and I noticed that the houses were getting fewer and fewer and green fields were appearing on either side of me. I had come all the way into the countryside. The only thing left for me to do was find the nearest railway station.文章大意:本文講述了作者來到一個新的城市,不懂對方的語言,結果迷路的故事。28The writer preferred to walk back to his hotel because _.Ahe had no money to buy a ticketBhe wanted to lose himself in the cityChe tried to know the city in this wayDit was late and there were no buses passing by答案:C推理判斷題。根據第一段前四句I was in a strange city I didnt know at all, and whats more, I could not speak a word of the language. The hotel laundry(洗衣房) ruined your favorite shirt. The taxi driver overcharged you. When youre abroad, sometimes things go wrong. Now you can do something about it! Use these tips when you want to express an effective complaint in English. No matter how unfair the situation, its best to phrase your complaint politely. In English, youll sound more polite if you use indirect language. Here are some examples:“Im sorry to bother you.” Starting a complaint like this puts the listener who may have heard many complaints that day at ease. Use this phrase if the situation isnt that serious. For example, “Im sorry to bother you, but I wanted a baked potato, not fries.”“Can you help me with this?” Everyone would much rather be asked to do something than told! So try phrasing your complaint as a request for help: “Can you help me with this? My shirt came back from the laundry without buttons.”“Im afraid there may be a misunderstanding.” This is a polite way of saying, “Your information is wrong. Please fix it now.” Youll most likely use this phrase if you made reservations(預定) for a flight, hotel or restaurant, and when you arrive, its not what you expected. For example, “Im afraid there may be a misunderstanding. I requested a nonsmoking room.”“I understand its not your fault.” Often when you make a complaint, you deal with a person who was not directly responsible for the problem. But the problem isnt your fault, either! This phrase is helpful when you need swift action. Tell the person youre dealing with you understand theyre not at fault and then directly state the problem: “I understand its not your fault, but the airline promised they would deliver my baggage yesterday.”“Excuse me, but I understood that.” Using this phrase lets the person know youre wellinformed and are suspicious they might be trying to take advantage of you. Dont say, “Hey! Youre trying to cheat me!” Instead, start indirectly by stating what you know to be true: “I understood that the taxi ride to the airport was only 25 dollars.” Then give them an opportunity to do the right thing.文章大意:本文介紹了幾種用英語來禮貌的抱怨的方法。33According to the passage, if we meet an unfair situation, wed better _.Astate our complaints politelyBgo for the police immediately Cuse indirect language to hurt peopleDfight against the one who is responsible答案:A細節理解題。根據第二段第一句“No matter how unfair the situation, its best to phrase your complaint politely.”有禮貌表示抱怨,不管你所遇到的情況有多不公平。故選A。34.Why should we start a complaint with polite phrases?ABecause the situation is never serious.BBecause the listener may not speak English.CBecause it can help solve the problem more easily.DBecause we should be always in good manners abroad.答案:C推理判斷題。根據常理可知有禮貌的抱怨是為了更好地解決問題,而不是激化矛盾。故選C。35Several effective complaints in English are mentioned above EXCEPT _.A“Can you help me with this?”B“I understand its not your fault.”C“Hey! Youre trying to cheat me!”D“Im afraid there may be a misunderstanding.”答案:C細節理解題。根據最后一段中“D
