要正確地轉述別人的話,必需注意代詞的變化.無論是人稱代詞.物主代詞或指示代詞,都要根據引語的內容和場合作相應的變化.變化規律如下:
一主二賓三不變(一;二;三指人稱)直接引語間接引語herethere時間狀語nowthentodaythatdaytonightthatnightlastnightthenightbeforeyesterdaythedaybeforelastweektheweekbeforethreedaysagothreedaysbeforetomorrowthenextdaynextweekthenextweekagobefore動詞comebringgotake指示代詞thisthesethatthose時間狀語、地點狀語及其變化直接引語變為間接引語的方法(1).如果直接引語是陳述句,間接引語由that引導,主句中的saytosb.通常改為tellsb.

(2).如果直接引語是一般疑問句,間接引語用if/whether引導,并將原來的疑問句語序變為陳述句語序.主句的謂語動詞是say時,要改為ask.如果原句沒有間接賓語,可以加一個賓語,如:me,him,her,them等.例如:
●UncleTomasked,“Willyoubefreethisafternoon?”●UncleTomaskedmeifIwouldbefreethatafternoon.(3)如果直接引語是特殊疑問句,間接引語則仍用原來的疑問代詞或疑問副詞引導,原來的疑問句語序必須改為陳述句語序.
1.TheteacheraskedTom,“Whyareyoulateforschool?”→TheteacheraskedTomwhyhewaslateforschool.2.Theteacheraskedthem,“whichbookdoyoulikebest?”.→Theteacheraskedthemwhichbooktheylikedbest.
(4)如果直接引語是祈使句,間接引語使用動詞不定式,肯定句為todo,否定句為nottodo,主句的謂語動詞可根據直接引語的口氣換用ask,tell,order等動詞.例如:
