Get the Ss to be used to doing the cloze and reading training during a limited period so as to maximum their study efficiency.Teaching key points: the usage of can and

2、could; the usage of may and might; the usage of must and need.Teaching difficult points: the negative reply to sentence including either must or may.Teaching procedures: 1) Greeting and Listening (Listening is designed as the first step because the Ss can pay more attention when they are clear-minde

Tom has gone to England. 2. could I 是can的過去式,表示過去有能力及過去存在的可能。e.g. He couldnt go that day .那天他不能去。(可能性) He couldnt answer all the questions when he was a pupil.不是所有的問題他都能回答。(能力) II 表示委婉地提法(現在時) e.g. Could I speak to Mr. Zha

9、ng,please?(電話里)請找張先生接電話好嗎? (3)表示吃驚。e.g. He couldnt be a thief.他不可能是個小偷。 How could he be so silly?他怎么會這么傻? 3. May I 表示允許 e.g. You may come here whenever you like.你想什么時候來就什么時候來。 表示客氣或委婉的請求用May,回答是也用May就顯得冷淡。所以最好改用熱情的答語。 e.g. May I smoke here?我可以在這里吸煙嗎? Yes,please./Certainly.可以./當然可以。 II 表示不確定的推測 e.g.

10、She may be right.她可能是對的。 4. might I 用在疑問句中,表示委婉、客氣 Might you make some room for me?您可以給我讓點地方嗎?II 作為may的過去式,表不確定的推測 e.g. They thought they might be there on time. 他們認為他們可以準時到達那里5. must I 表示必須 e.g. you must come earlier next time.下次早點來。 在回答由must引導的一般疑問句時,若表示肯定,用must。若表示否定,用neednt或dont have to。因為mustnt

11、表示禁止、不許可。 e.g. Must we all come tomorrow?明天我們必須全部來嗎? Yes,you must./No,you neednt./No,you dont have to.是的,必須全部來。/不,沒必要。 II 表示很有把握的推測。e.g. Miss Gao must be in the office.高老師一定在辦公室里。 This must be Wang Hais book.這一定是王海的書。 B Let the Ss to do some relevant exercises. 12、n. C key phrases be anxious about sb./sth.=be worried about 對憂慮 be anxious to do sth. 渴望做某事 be anxious that 擔心 e.g. I am anxious about my grandmas health. I am anxious for your brother to help me out. I am anxious that there are some mistakes in my composition。 . have/make an appointment with sb.與某人

13、有預約 be crucial to/for sb/sth. 對某人/某事來說至關重要 be crucial to do sth.做某事至關重要 be crucial that+從句 e.g. Reading a lot is crucial to English study. Its crucial to find the solution to every problem. Its crucial that you realize the importance of study. because of due to 相當于caused by,可作表語和狀語,不能用于句首 因為 thanks

14、to 多虧,辛虧(相當于感謝) owing to 可與due to換用,可用于句首on account of 語氣比較正式 e.g. I didnt go to the movies because of the cold weather.His illness is due to bad food.他生病是由于吃了不好的食物。(多作表語) He cant come because of the bad weather. 他不能來是因為天氣不好。(多作語) That was on account of lack of exercise. 那是由于缺乏鍛煉。 Owing to the rain,

15、 the match was called off. 由于下雨,比賽取消了。5) ConsolidationGet the Ss to do the exercises of exam paper relating to Unit 5. They will be asked to finish the multiple choice, rewriting, and blank filling first. Next I will check the answers together with them. Finally I will give my explanation for the qu

16、estions but not for all of them. Only in places where the Ss make mistakes will I offer clarification.Since the cloze and reading parts have already been finished by the Ss at home, I will check the answers directly. As for the cloze, Ill let the Ss try to illustrate by themselves now that the metho

17、d of comparison has been taught for many times. If any mistakes, I will provide my illustration. The exam paper is attached.6) Cloze and reading Training (for a limited time only)The Ss are allowed to complete the cloze within 5 min, reading 4 min and a half.
