My name is He Yanhong, and I come from Wulongkou No. 2 Middle School. Here Ill talk about how to teach Sectio
2、n A of Unit 9 Its in go for it for students of Grade 8. The topic is “Can you come to my party? ”. Ill say it from seven parts.Part OneAnalysis of the Teaching Material : Status and FunctionThis lesson is the first period of Unit 9. The main content of this lesson is to let the students know how to
3、use “can” and “ have to” . They must use them to make, accept and decline invitations. This lesson is tied up with our daily life, so the students will be interested in it. : Teaching Aims and Demands 1. Knowledge aims1). Study the new words “prepare, exam, flue, available and another time”.2). Lear
4、n and master the sentences “Can you come to my party? Sure, Id love to. Im sorry, I have to do. ” 2. Ability aims1). Develop the students abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing.2). Train the students ability of working in groups.3. Emotion aims1). Arouse their interest in learning Eng
5、lish.2). Teach the students how to express their ideas politely. : Important and Difficult Points 1. Learn how to make, accept and decline invitations politely.2. Be able to use them in their daily life.Part TwoAnalysis of the students.The students have learned English for several years. They have h
6、ad some abilities of listening and speaking. But they dont often use English to express themselves and communicate with others. Some students are not active in class because they are afraid of making mistakes. So how to arouse their interest in learning English is very important. Part ThreeThe Teach
7、ing MethodsAs we all know: The main instructional aims of learning English in the Middle School is to cultivate students abilities of listening, speaking, reading, writing and their good sense of the English language. So in this lesson Ill mainly use Communicative teaching method, Audio-visual teach
8、ing method and Task-based teaching method. That is to say, Ill let the students get a better understanding of the key structures. I will give them enough chances to practice and I will use pair work, group work to let the students take an active part in all kinds of activities. That is “Learning by
9、doing, learning by using”.In a word, I want to make the students be the real masters in class. I also hope to let the students receive some moral education while they are learning the English language. Part FourTeaching aids Multi-media Computer,blackboard, tape recorder and so on. Part FiveTeaching
10、 procedures As this lesson plays an important part in the English teaching of this unit, I will use the following steps to train the students abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing, especially listening and speaking abilities. Step1 .Warm-up and Lead-in1. Listen to the songHappy birth
11、day to you. And I can ask the students : Do you like this song? Can you sing it ? S1: Yes, I can. S2: No, I cant.Let the students sing this song together.2. Next I will tell the students that my birthday is coming, and Im going to have a party this weekend, ask them: Can you come to my party? Let st
12、udents answer it freely. I can present “Sure, Id love to.” “Sorry, I cant. I have to” Try to lead in this lesson. Purpose: 1. Revise the usage of “can”. And arouse the students interest of study. 2. In this part, let the students say more answers. In this way, they will know todays lesson has someth
13、ing to do with “can”.Step2 Presentation 1. Present the sentence structures. A: Can you come to my party? B: Sure, Id love to. C: Im sorry, I cant. I have to D: Im sorry, too. I must 2. Learn the new words “prepare, exam, flue, available and another time”. I can let the student invite me and I can an
14、swer it by using “study for a test, have a cold and be free ” to present the new words.Step3 Practice 1. Show some pictures to the class. Drill the sentence structures.3. 1a. Match the phrases with the pictures.Purpose:After drilling, the students will master the sentences and learn the new words qu
15、ickly and easily.Step4. Listening practice (1b, 2a2b)1.1b. Listen and write the names (Tim, Kay, Anna and Wilson) next to the correct students in the picture.Before listening, Ill ask students to write the phrases besides the person, it will help them to catch the answers more quickly.2. 2a. Listen
16、and circle can or cant. 3. 2b. Listen again. Who cant go to the party? Why? Complete the chart.In this part, Ill tell students to pay more attention to “cant” and write down the key phrases first. Then they can make complete sentences.Purpose: By telling the students how to catch the key words to im
17、prove the students ability of listening.Step5. Pair work1. 2c. Let students look at 2b and write more reasons in the chart by themselves.2. Ask students to work in pairs to practice the dialogue. They can use the topics in the picture. If time permits, ask some pairs to act their dialogue out. Purpo
18、se: Let the students use what theyve learnt in this class. Step6. Summary and homework 1. Make a summary of this class.2. Homework: Suppose you are going to have a party and you will invite all your friends. Some of them can come, but others cant. Do a survey among them and make a report. Part SixBl
