Bowing is the traditionalway of greeting in Northeast Asian countries like Korea and Japan. In Japan, when y

17、ou bow, youdont look directly at the other person s eyes. But in Korea it s important to see the other persons face when you bow. In both countries, people bow to show respect. Traditionally, Japanese bowswhere the left hand covers the right hand are more polite than when the right hand covers the l

18、eft.This is because, in the days when people used swords, the right hand was used for fighting. Theleft hand covering the right symbolizes one s stopping ones own stronger hand.
