7A unit5 Lets celebrate Reading(1)Teaching aims and demands:1. To master the four skillswords : October,special, call, knock, shout, if, candy, face, paint, wonderful, own, cut, tooth, chocolate, hot, drink, food. The two skills words: trick, treat, mask, lantern, sharp(adj.), trick or treat, play a trick. And be able to understand the words, costume and pumpkin.2. To understand the text correctly and can ask & answer about the learning information.3. To cultivate the students ability of reading comprehension4. To be interested in the culture and custom of the English countriesKey points: 1. the correct pronunciation of the new words and phrases.2. the ability of getting information from the text and the correct reading on the textDifficult points:1. The re-telling of the letter.2. More understanding in the different ways of celebration between the Chinese and western festivals.Teaching aids: Tape & teaching picturesTeaching methods: Task-based method, cooperative learning methodTeaching procedures:Step 1: 預(yù)習(xí)交流 (15)一、 Free talk:1、 What festivals do you know? 2、 Which is your favourite festival? 3、 Why do you like it? 二、 T: Do you know which is my favourite festival? (show a pumpkin lantern)Halloween. Then show some pictures about Halloween and talk about them with the Ss like this:Look, Whats it? Its a pumkin lantern. How can we make a pumpkin lantern? We can use a knife to cut out the nose ,the eyes and the sharp teeth. Look at this man! What is he wearing? Hes wearing a costume with a mask. Its a special lion costume. Look at these children. What are they wearing? (costumes)What are they doing? (Playing “trick or treat”) Is it a trick or a treat from the picture? Can you see these children? They look so happy! What are they doing?(Having a Halloween party.)Write the words on the blackboard while talking. Ss learn to read.Check their pronunciation.三、 Check out the prepared work .1.、Work in groups to correct their errors of the prepared work.2、solve the problems in common3、remember in mind.Step 2 展示提高(20)Part 1: Skimming (2)Ask the Ss to skim the text and answer: 1.Who is Millies penfriend in the USA?(Wendy) 2.What is the letter about? (Halloween) 3.When is Halloween? (Its on October 31st) (Tell Ss that they just need to get the key information for the questions in a short time but not to read the whole text.)Part 2: Listening (5)Listen to the tape and judge (T/F) and correct the wrong sentences.1. If people dont give the children a treat,children can not play a trick on them. (F) 2. People dress up and wear different costumes at Halloween. (T) 3. Wendy and her friends always paint their faces at Halloween. (T)4. People in the USA make lanterns out of oranges. (F)5. People cut out the pumpkin to make eyes, ears and hair. (F) Part 3: Scanning(7)a. Ask some Ss to read the letter paragraph by paragraph. The others listen carefully and see if there is any wrong pronunciation.
