ShanghaiTurbineSYSTEMDESIGNMANUAL SYSTEM(GPV)ChapterSheet1ofCHAPTER6–ControlThemainturbine anddrainsystem,GPV,conveysmainturbine ,viafourlooppipestotheHPcylinder.EachlooppipeincorporatesanHP chesthousingonestopandoneerningvalve.Thestopanderningvalvescontrol,viasignalsfromthe turbinecontroller,themainturbine flowsubmittedtotheHPcylinder.Themajorityofthe expandsthroughtheHPcylinderwhereitexhaustsintothemoistureseparatorreheater(MSR).TheMSRdriesandreheatsthebeforethe enterstheLPcylindersviatheLPstopanderningvalvesintheLPchest.TheLPexhaust passestothecondenserwhereitiscondensed.Duringnormaloperation-turbinestandstill,start-upandshut-down,condensateisformedinsidethepi.Thiscondensatecanleadtodamageofturbinesorturbinesorequipment,andconsequentlyithastoberemovedfromthepi.Thereforeadrainagesystemisinstalled.ThedrainlinesfromtheHPlooppipestothedrainsreceiverarecontrolledbypaticvalves,actuatedbypaticactuators.Subloopcontrolanddrivecontrolof condensesintheturbineandinthepi,ifthemetaltemperatureoftheexposedcomponentsislowerthanthesaturationtemperatureofthe Drainvalvesremovecondensate.Inaddition,thefourdrainvalvesbetweentheMSemergencystopvalvesandMScontrolvalvesprovidethewarm-upfunctionoftheMSvalvesaftertheMSemergencystopvalvesopen.Inadrainsystemthereisadrainvalvewithpaticacuator.Thepaticactuatoriscontrolledbyapilotvalve.TheOPEN-andCLOSED-positionsofeverydrainvalvearedetectedbythelimitswitches.ThelevelupstreamofeverydrainvalveisdetectedbyanoglevelShanghaiElectricPowerGenerationEquipmentCo. ShanghaiTurbineSYSTEMDESIGNMANUAL SYSTEM(GPV)ChapterSheet2ofandtwobinarylimitswitches.Thesamelevelvaluewillbeprovidedbythetwobinarylimitswitches.Thedrainvalveopensbycontroloftheappropriatepilotvalveifeitherswitchisactive(i.e.thelimitvalueinthelimitswitchisreached)ortheleveldetectionhasfailed.Thedrainvalveclosesbycontroloftheappropriatepilotvalveifthebothlimitswitchesarenotactiveforasettime.Thepilotvalveiscontrolledbythelevelswitchesifthesubloopcontrolworksinautomaticmode.Thesubloopcontrolisswitchedonbythesubgroupcontrol(SGC) ortheSGCseal systemormanually.Thissubloopcontrolcanbeswitchedoffonlymanually.Becauseofdranvalvesofseal systemthesubloopcontrolofdrainhastobeswitchedonafterthesubgroupcontrolsealsystemisstarted.Awarning(SubLoopControlNOTON)inthecontrolroomisinitiatediftheSubLoopControlisnotswitchedONtotheAUTOmodeduringtheturningoperationandevacuationoperation.Awarning(LEVELHIGH)inthecontrolroomisinitiatediftheeitherswitchisstillactive(i.e.thelimitvalueinthelimitswitchisreached)forasettimewhilethedrainvalveopens.Furthermoreawarning(DRAINVALVESFAILED)inthecontrolroomisnnedifthedrainvalvecannotbeopenedorclosedbyOPENorCLOSEcommand.DrivecontrolLPhoodTopreventLPwindageawaterinjectionsystemwith8nozzlesisinstalledatthefacesideofthelow-pressureturbineswiththeobjectivetoreducethetemperatureatthe exhaustendtotheextentthatthepermissiblelimitvalueisnotexceeded.Thewaterinjectioniscontrolledwithapaticactuator(failsafeclose).Thevalveisopenedwithcompressedairviaapaticactuatorandclosedbyspring.Toclosethevalveasolenoidvalveisde-energized.Thecondensatepressuremustbesetthroughathrottlesuchthattheinjectionnozzlesreachtherequiredpressureduringnormaloperationofthecondensatepumps.Thecorrectpressurecanbeproofedviaalocalpressuremanometer.ShanghaiElectricPowerGenerationEquipmentCo. ShanghaiTurbineSYSTEMDESIGNMANUAL SYSTEM(GPV)ChapterSheet3ofThewaterinjectionvalveisopenedwhenlimittemperaturesoftheLPbladingorLPexhaustareexceeded.Thewaterinjectionisclosedwhenthetemperaturesfalldownoradefinedturbineloadisreached(inthiscasethemassflowthroughtheturbineissohighthatthebladesarecooledsufficiently).Thewaterinjectionisinterlockedduringtheturbinecrossestheturbinespeedareaof95%>=n>=8%inordertopreventvibrationexcitationof-standingendstageTheLPhoodspraysystemisputautomaticallyintoactionduringbypass-and operationbyturningspeed.Duringthismodeofoperationoftheturbinenotemperaturecriterionistakeninaccount.LPexhausttemperatureprotectionLPwindagecanleadtooverheatingofbladingandcasing.Inlow-pressureturbinesLPwindagecanbetracedbacktoinsufficientvolumetricflowinthebladingincertainoperatingmodes,andthiscancoincidewithhighcondenserpressureincertaincases.Inturbinegeneratorswithheatingandprocess extraction,throttlingofthe extractionvalvescanreducevolumetricflowthroughthelowpressureturbinetosuchalowmagnitudethatwindageoccursduringsteady-statepoweroperation.Theumlimitsforpermissibletemperatureareinitiallysetbytheanchoringoftherotorbladerootsforthestandardstages,bythecasing.Achangeintheshaftpositioncanalsooccur,whichgivesrisetounsteadyrunningandmayevenleadtorotorbladerubbing.AsuitablecoolingsystemisusedtopreventAprotectioncircuitensuresthat turbinetripisinitiatedwhenthecoolingsystemfailsorwhenthedesiredcoolingeffectisnotobtained.Thetemperaturesaremonitoredatrepresentativepointsforthispurpose.LPbladingtemperatureShanghaiElectricPowerGenerationEquipmentCo. ShanghaiTurbineSYSTEMDESIGNMANUAL SYSTEM(GPV)ChapterSheet4ofLPwindagecanleadtooverheatingofbladingandcasing.InlowpressureturbinesLPwindagecanbetracedbacktoinsufficientvolumetricflowinthebladingincertainoperatingmodes,andthiscancoincidewithhighcondenserpressureincertaincases.Inturbinegeneratorswithheatingandprocess extraction,throttlingofthe extractionvalvescanreducevolumetricflowthroughthelowpressureturbinetosuchalowmagnitudethatwindageoccursduringsteady-statepoweroperation.Theumlimitsforpermissibletemperatureareinitiallysetbytheanchoringoftherotorbladerootsforthestandardstages,bythecasing.Achangeintheshaftpositioncanalsooccur,whichgivesrisetounsteadyrunningandmayevenleadtorotorbladerubbing.ToruleoutanyrisktotheLPturbineasaresultofexcessivetemperatures,thedurationoftheassociatedoperatingcondition(180oC<TLe-0<230oC)mustbelimited.ThereasonforthisistoavoidreducedservicelifeandadditionalrisktotheLPturbineasaresultofexcessiverelativeexpansion.SubloopcontrolanddrivecontrolofextractioncheckIntheextractionlinesareinstallednon-returnflaps(NRF)toavoidthermalormechanicaldamageoftheturbine.Amongstothers,adamagecanresultfrom:Quenchingofhotdevices,inadmissibledistortionofcasing;Overstressingofbladingbyintrusionofwater;Increaseofspeedoftheturbineatloadrejectionbyevaporationofwaterinthepreheatersorbackflowof fromtheextractionlines.Eachextractionlineisprovidedwithtwonon-returnflaps.Theflapupstreamisbackup-controlledandtheflapdownstreamisrunning.Theflaps,aswellthebackup-controlledones,closerespevtivelyopenautomaticallyat ingdifferentialpressure.Theclosingofthebackup-controllednon-returnflapissupportedbyapaticactuator.Thisactuatorispilotedbyasolenoidvalve,whichisdeenergisedtoactivatethe (de-energizetoclose).Atfailureofthecontrolair,thebackup-controllednon-returnflapsaredrivenintodirectionclosebytheShanghaiElectricPowerGenerationEquipmentCo. ShanghaiTurbineSYSTEMDESIGNMANUAL SYSTEM(GPV)ChapterSheet5ofspring-biassedauxiliarydrive.Though,theauxiliarydriveisnotabletoclosethenon-returnflapagainstadifferentialpressuredirectionopen.Anauxiliarydrivefaultilyremaininginopen-positiondoesnotinterferetheautomaticclosingofrunningThesolenoidvalveofthebackup-controllednon-returnflapispilotedindirectionoverride(open)oractivate(close)oftheforwardload-dependentlybytheposition-setpointoftheturbinecontroller.Atinitiationofturbinetrip,thesolenoidvalveispilotedindirectionactivate(close)oftheforward.Forprotectionagainstbackstreamingof orwateroutoftheextractionlines,thereisanadditionalcontrolbydifferentialpressure.Thedifferentialpressuremeasurementisrealizedoverbothnon-returnflaps.Theopeningreleaseforthebackup-controllednon-returnflapisnotsetuntil:thepressuredifferenceacrossbothflapshasexceededaminimumlimit.thebackup-controllednon-returnflaphasalreadylefttheclosedpositiondbyincreasing Bothconditionshavetobefullfilled.Thisistoavoidafrequentopeningandclosingoftheflap.Remark:Atoperationwithclosedslidevalveintheextractionlineandopeneddrainageline,operationsconditionscanoccur,inwhichapermanentdifferentialpressurebuildsup,aslongasthenon-returnflapisheldclosedbythepaticactuator.Thisdifferentialpressurewoulddisappearwiththereleaseofthenon-returnflap,becauseitisnotcausedbyaflowbutonlybythepressuredifferencebetweenthedrainedsubsequentextractionlineandtheturbineinoperation.Theresultisaperpetualsuccessionofdifferentialpressurebuild-upanddischargewithcorrespondentenergizingandde-energizingofthepilotsolenoidvalve.Tomakepossibleamanualoperationofthebackup-controllednon-returnflapsindependentoftheaforementionedcriteria,thereisasubloopcontrol.Thesubloopcontrolonlyoperatestheopeningofthesolenoidvalves.Theswitch-onofthesub-loopcontroliseffectedbytheturbinestart-upandshut-downprogramormanually.Theswitch-offismadeonlymanually.Thenon-returnflapsareprovidedwithanoguerotationangleShanghaiElectricPowerGenerationEquipmentCo. ShanghaiTurbineSYSTEMDESIGNMANUAL SYSTEM(GPV)ChapterSheet10ofOperatingStart-upTheturbineisstarteduponlyifthelubricantsupplysystemisinoperationtoensurelubeoilandliftingoilsupplytothebearingsandturninggearoperation.Inadditionthecontrolfluidsystemischeckedforoperation.Anappropriatelevelofvacuumistobebuiltupinthecondensertoacceptthe andcondensate.Thiscomprisesthestart-upofthesealsystem/leak-offsystemandtheevacuationsystem.Allnecessarysystemofthe cycleandtheassociatedauxiliariesmustalsobeinoperation.ApreconditionforopeningoftheSTstopvalvesisthesuccessfulautomatictestoftheover-speedprotectionsystem.OncetheturbinedrainsystemhasbeenpreparedforoperationandtheMSlineshavebeenstartedforwarm-up(theMSshut-offvalvesareopen),theHPturbinestopvalvesareopened.Thisensurestheturbinevalvestobewarmed-uptogetherwiththeMSlinestoavoidthermaloverstressofthevaluebodiescausedbycondensationfollowingahighpressurestep.Therequiredsequenceofopeningfirstthestopvalvesandafterit,thecontrolvalveischeckedbythestart-upprogramSGC Turbine.Thecondenserpressuremustbewithinpermissiblelimitsforturbineoperation.Theautomaticmodeofsub-loopcontrol(SLC)turbinedrainwillbeON,iftheSGC turbine(ECS:GPV0001NC/KKS:MAY10EC001)isinstep04(turbinestart-up)orstep55(turbineshutdown)orSGCseal supply(ECS:CET1001NC/KKS:MAW10EC001)instep02.ThedrainpilotvalveiscontrolledbythelevelswitchesiftheSLCturbinedrainworksinautomaticmode. isadmittedintotheHPcasing,thetemperaturedifferencesofupperandlowerpartwithintheHPoutercasingarechecked.TemperaturedifferencesandthereforedistortionoftheHPoutercasingmustbewithinthespecifiedlimits.TheMSvalvecasingsmustbeadequaywarmed.Thismeansthatactualtemperaturestressesinthecomponentsarenotatthelimit.ShanghaiElectricPowerGenerationEquipmentCo. ShanghaiTurbineSYSTEMDESIGNMANUAL SYSTEM(GPV)ChapterSheet11ofcontrolvalvesarenotopeneduntilanadequatelevelof purityforthepurityisdeterminedmanuallypriortoopeningofthecontrolvalves.Relativeshaftvibration,absolutebearingcasingvibrationandrelativeexpansionaremonitoredduringstart-up.Theturbineisstartedupaftercheckingthatthegeneratorisreadyforoperation.TheSGC turbinechecksforalarmsofthe turbineprotectionsystem.Run-upistheninitiatedbyincreasingthespeedsetpointoftheSTcontroller.Atfirsttheinterceptcontrolvalvesareopened,thentheMScontrolvalves.isexpandingintheHPturbine,passingtheMSRandfurtherexpandingintheLPturbines.TheaccelerationratedependsonthethermalstressoftheHPturbine.Run-uptonominalspeedistobeperformedcontinuouslyinordertoavoidprolongedoperationinthecriticalspeedrangeandresonanceregionsoftheLProtatingblades.Thegeneratorbreakerisclosedwhenthephaseanglesandfrequenciesofthegeneratorandthegridhavebalanced.Afterparallelingwiththegrid,theturbineisloadedtominimumload.Theloadcanthenbeincreasedbyraisingtheloadsetpoint,dependingonthethermalstressoftheHPturbine.Whiletheturbinetakesoverthewhole massflow,theHPbypassstationscloseShutdownDuringtheshutdownprocesstheturbinegeneratorsetisunloaded.Theunitisunloadeduntilthegeneratorbreakerisopenedowingtoreversepower.Thisisaconcurrenttestofthecontrolvalvesfortightness.Subsequentlyturbinetripisactuatedandconditionsforrestartareestablished.Duringshuttingdowntheliftingoilsupplyisactivated.Afterreachingturninggearspeed,theSThastobeopenedathydraulicturninggearuntiltheshafttemperaturecoolsoffto100℃.Onlythentheturninggearcanbeswitchedoffandtheshaftcomestostandstill.ShanghaiElectricPowerGenerationEquipmentCo.
