Thisguidelineappliestoengine-driventhree-phaseACsynchronousgeneratorsratedat2500kWand50Hzor60Hzand1kVandtheirexcitationdevices,intendedforshipsandoffshoreinstallations.ThisChapterisapplicabletomotorsforgeneralpurposes.Wheremotors,whichareintendedforspecialpurposesorforwhichspecialtestsarerequired,arenotspecificallycoveredbythisChapter,thestandardsforsuchmotorsapply.
Thisguidelineappliestothree-phaseACsynchronousgenerators(includingemergencygenerators)forgeneralpurposes.Wheremotors,whichareintendedforspecialpurposesorforwhichspecialtestsarerequired,arenotspecificallycoveredbythisguideline,thestandardsforsuchmotorsapply.

Definitions
1.3.1Series:ForthepurposeofthisChapter,thesameseriesmeansonegroupofproductswiththesameworkingprinciples.Inthecaseofanydifferenceinrawmaterial,manufacturingprocessandoptionalcomponents,theenterpriseistoidentifysuchdifferencesintheenterprisestandardsandindicatethemintypemarkings.Forexample,productswhicharedifferentindegreeofprotection,voltagerating,single/doublesupportingandlubricationaretobedeemedasbeinginthesameseries,whileproductswhicharedifferentinexcitation,insulationlevelandmethodsof
coolingmaybedeemedasbeingfromindifferentseries.

Designandtechnicalrequirements
ThedesignandmanufactureofproductsaretocomplywiththerequirementsofCCSRulesforClassificationofSea-goingSteelShips,CCSRulesforMaterialsandWeldingandIEC60092-301;thermalclassificationofelectricalinsulationistocomplywithIEC60085;methodsofcoolingaretocomplywithIEC60034-6;terminalmarkingsanddirectionofrotationaretocomplywithIEC60034-8;noiselimitsaretocomplywithIEC60034-9;andmeasurement,evaluationandlimitsofvibrationseverityaretocomplywithIEC60034-14.
Applicableenvironmentalconditionsandmaterialrequirements
Generatorsandtheirexcitationsystemsaretooperatesatisfactorilyunderthefollowingenvironmentalconditions:
Ambientairtemperature:45℃.(2)Relativehumidity:95±3%,withcondensationofwater.
Saltmist,oilvaporandmold.
Inclinationofshipsfromthenormal:
Listing:15°(22.5°foremergencygenerators,30°forliquefiedgascarrier);Rolling:22.5°;
Trimming:5°(10°foremergencygenerators);
Pitching:7.5°(10°foremergencygenerators).
Shockorvibrationimpactsonshipsandoffshoreoilunitsinserviceoroperation.
Materialrequirements
Enclosuresaretobeofsteelorcastironwith196.13MPaoftensilestrength.
Shaftingmaterialistobeheattreatedinanappropriateprocess,havingtensilestrengthnotlessthan441.30MPa,yieldstressnotlessthan210.84MPa.Theelongationoftestsamplesisnottobelessthan24%.ThechemicalcompositionofsteelistocomplywithTable5.2.2(1).

Flame-retardant,moisture-,andfungus-resistantaswellaslow-toxicmaterialsaretobeused.
Technicalrequirements
Mainandemergencygeneratorsincludingtheirexcitersaretobesuitableforcontinuousdutyattheirfullratedoutputandmaximumcoolingairtemperatureforanunlimitedperiod,withoutthelimitsoftemperatureriseaspertheirinsulationlevelsbeingexceeded.
Generatorsaretowithstandthefollowingovercurrentorexcesstorquewithoutinjury:ACgenerators:50%overcurrent2min
ACgeneratorsandtheirexcitationsystemsaretobecapableofmaintaining,understeady-stateshort-circuitconditions,acurrentofatleast3timesthefullloadratedcurrentforadurationof2s.
EachACgenerator,unlessoftheself-regulatedtype,istobeprovidedwithseparateautomaticandmanualvoltageregulatorsatthegeneratorcontrolpanel.
EachACgeneratordrivenbytheprime-moverhavinggovernorcharacteristicscomplyingwithCCSRulesforClassificationofSea-goingSteelShipstogetherwithitsexcitationsystemistobecapableofmaintainingthevoltageundersteadyconditionswithin±2.5%oftheratedvoltageforallloadsbetweenzeroandratedloadatratedpowerfactor.Theselimitsmaybeincreasedto
±3.5%foremergencysets.
ForACgeneratingsetsundernoloadconditions,whenthegeneratorisdrivenatratedspeed,givingitsratedvoltage,andissubjectedtoasuddenchangeofsymmetricalloadwithinthelimitsof60%oftheratedcurrentandthepowerfactornotexceeding0.4,thevoltageisnottofallbelow85%norexceed120%oftheratedvoltage.Thevoltageofgeneratoristhentoberestoredtowithinplusorminus3%oftheratedvoltageforthemaingeneratorsetsinnotmorethan1.5s.Foremergencysets,thesevaluesmaybeincreasedtoplusorminus4%innotthan5s,respectively.
ForACsynchronousgenerators,thefactorofdistortionofthewaveformfromasinusoidalfundamentaloftheline-to-linevoltageundernoloadconditionsisnottoexceed5%,exceptforsmallsize(e.g.lessthan24kW)generators.
ACgeneratorsandtheirexcitationsystemsaretooperateundersteadyconditionsforanunlimitedperiodundertheenvironmentalconditionsasspecifiedinCCSRulesforClassificationofSea-goingSteelShips.
OverspeedprotectionforprimemoversofgeneratingsetsaretocomplywiththerequirementsofIACSURM3.2.
PrimemoversasmainpropulsionmachinesaretocomplywiththerequirementsofIACSURE17.
Maincomponentsandparts
MaterialsandcomponentsaretocomplywithrelevantrequirementsofCCSRules.ShaftmaterialformainenginedrivengeneratorswheretheshaftispartofthepropulsionshaftingistobecertifiedbyCCS.ShaftmaterialforothergeneratorsistobeprovidedbymanufacturersasapprovedbyCCSortohavematerialcertificate,andotherequivalentdocumentaryevidence.
Shaftmaterialforgeneratorscanbeusedtherecognizedinternationalstandardsandnationalstandards/industrystandardsforNDT.ForthefollowingTable3.2usualNDTstandards,theacceptancecriteriaasspecifiedbelowareapplied.Whenusingotherstandards,tobeevaluatedbyCCSandconfirmedthedeterminationlevelbeforeuse.

Typesandspecificationsoftypetestsamplesaretocovertheproductsforwhichapprovalissoughtandbetechnicallyrepresentativefordetermining,throughtypetest,whetherthemanufacturerhasthecapabilitytomanufacturetheapprovalproductsasrequiredbyCCS.Twosamplesmaytobetakenfortestfromeachsamplingseriesofgenerators.Atleastoneofthesamplestakenfromdifferentseriesistoberatednotlessthan80%ofthemaximumpowertobeapproved.
Samplesselectedfromdifferentseriesofthree-phaseACsynchronousgeneratorsatthesamemanufactureraretoberepresentativeintermsofpower,speed,insulationlevel,degreeofprotection,voltagerating,single/doublesupporting,lubrication,meansand/ormethodofcooling,andmanufacturingprocess.
Thetypetestofthree-phaseACsynchronousgeneratorsistobeinaccordancewithTable7.3.
Theinternationalstandardsreferredtointhisguidelinearetheirrespectivelatestversions.
Inlieuofthestandardsoftestmethodsreferredtointhisguideline,otherequivalentorrecognizedstandardsmaybeappliedasappropriate.
