1.1 RemindersforusageofITresources,IPRdeclarationandantitrustcompliance

ITresources:

DelegatesareremindedthattheysharethemeetingITresourceswiththeirfellowdelegates.Youshouldnotabusetheservicebyusingbandwidth-hoggingapplicationssuchasmoviedownloads,streamingvideo,web-basedgaming,etcduringthemeeting.Usetheinternetserviceinyourhotelroomsforthis!

Delegatesmustrespectthelawofthehostingcountry,andshouldnotvisitprohibitedinternetsites.

Incasesofpersistentabuseoftheinternetbandwidth,MCCmayrestrictindividual’suseoftheservice.

Inparticular,thePCGhaslaiddownthefollowingnetworkusageconditions:

1.Usersshallnotusethenetworktoengageinillegalactivities.Thisincludesactivitiessuchascopyrightviolation,hacking,espionageoranyotheractivitythatmaybeprohibitedbylocallaws.

2.Usersshallnotengageinnon-work-relatedactivitiesthatconsumeexcessivebandwidthorcausesignificantdegradationoftheperformanceofthenetwork.

Sincethenetworkisasharedresource,usersshouldexercisesomebasicetiquettewhenusingthe3GPPnetworkatameeting.Itisunderstoodthathighbandwidthapplicationssuchasdownloadinglargefilesorvideostreamingmightberequiredforbusinesspurposes,butdelegatesshouldbestronglydiscouragedfromperformingtheseactivitiesforpersonaluse.Downloadingamovieordoingsomethinginaninteractiveenvironmentforpersonaluseessentiallywastesbandwidththatothersneedtomakethemeetingeffective.ThemeetingChairshouldremindendusersthatthenetworkisasharedresource;themoreoneusergrabs,thelessthereisforanother.Emailanditsattachmentsalreadytakeupsignificantbandwidth(certainemailprogramsarenotverybandwidthefficient).IncaseofneedtheChaircanaskthedelegatestorestrictITusagetothingsthatareessentialforthemeetingitself.
