Requirements
MaterialsapprovedtothisspecificationshallmeettherequirementsofGMW3013,GeneralRequirementsforHandlingofTechnicalTermsofDeliveryforPlastics.
RequirementsonDelivery.Importantphysical,mechanical,andthermalpropertiesthatcharacterizethematerialaresummarizedinTable1.
Note:Foreachproduct,therequirementstoTable1shallbedocumentedbycertificationstatementaccordingtoGMW3013.Thecolorshallbespecifiedondrawings,inmaterialspecificationsandotherwise.
RequirementsonTestSpecimens.
Unlessotherwisespecified,injectionmoldingoftestspecimensshallbeaccomplishedperISO294withtheconditionsforinjectionmoldingfromISO1873-2.TestmethodsandspecimendimensionsarealsotobeinaccordancewithISO1873-2.TestmethodsandspecimendimensionsarealsotobeinaccordancewithISO1873-2withthefollowingadditions:
?UseISO3167,TypeA,thickness4mm,fortensileandflexuralproperties.
Alltestsshallbeperformedonspecimens40hminimumaftermoldingandimmediatelyfollowingaconditioningperiodof24hminimuminacontrolledatmosphereperGMW3221,CodeA,unlessotherwisespecified.Alltestsshallbeperformedonunannealedspecimens.Inaddition,testspecifiedattemperaturesbeloworabove+23°C±2°Cshallbeconductedatthespecifictemperatureusingspecimensconditionedatspecifiedtemperaturefor4hminimum.
EmissionsTestingofInteriorMaterialsandParts.ForallCodeEdesignatedpartsperGMW14444,referenceGMW16853foremissionstestingofinteriormaterialsandparts.
ThevaluesspecifiedinTable1shallbemetbytestspecimensinnaturalorblack.Forintegrallycoloredgradeswhereotheradditivesystems(e.g.,stabilizer)areused,theimpactvaluesshallnotdecreasemorethan10%fromthespecifiedminimumvalue.
ChemicalRequirements.Allpartsmanufacturedfrommoldingcompoundsshallberesistanttothemediatheycontactattheirplaceofuse.
CompoundProperties.SeeTable1.Thefollowingarealsorequiredforfullspecificationapproval.Theminimumnumberoflotspertestrequiredisone(1)innatural:

Anewapprovalmustbereceivedforanychanges,e.g.,properties,manufacturingprocess,locationofmanufacture,etc.Ifnototherwiseagreed,alltestinganddocumentationnormallyrequiredforinitialreleasemustbecompleted.
Itistheresponsibilityofthesuppliertoinformthecustomerinatimelymanner,withoutsolicitation,andtoincludedocumentationofallmodificationsofmaterialsand/orprocessesandtoapplyforanewrelease.
MaterialSafetyDataSheets/SafetyDataSheets(MSDS/SDS).Fornewproductsubmissions,orwhenachangeinchemicalcompositionofanexistingproducthasoccurred,acompletecopyoftheMaterialSafetyDataSheet/SafetyDataSheetmustbesubmittedincompliancewiththeGloballyHarmonizedSystemofClassificationandLabelingofChemicals(GHS)requirementsorothercountry-specificMSDS/SDSrequirements.
AllmaterialssuppliedtothisstandardmustcomplywiththerequirementsoftheInternationalMaterialDataSystem(IMDS)andGMW3059,RestrictedandReportableSubstances.
ApprovedSources
MaterialssuppliedtothisspecificationmustbeapprovedbyGeneralMotors.
AlistofapprovedmaterialscanbefoundintheGMApprovedMaterialsSourceList.Toaccessthislist,referenceGMW14270forlatestlocation.ThisGMMaterialFileisprovidedtothirdpartiestoreduceredundanttestingofmaterials.Ifapprovedmaterialalreadylistedisused,thepartsuppliercanuseGMMaterialFilereferenceforProductionPartApprovalProcess(PPAP)materialapproval.Ifthedecisionismadetouseanotyetapprovedmaterial,contactGMMaterialsEngineeringfordetailsontheapprovalprocess.ThematerialapprovalprocessmustbecompletedpriortoPPAPstartdateofthepartsuppliedtoGeneralMotors.
