Ⅰ.

作定語時，既可修飾可數名詞，也可修飾不可數名詞。

enough的用法有時也可以將enough放在被修飾名詞之后,如：

我的酒不夠5個人喝。Ⅱ.作表語。

只有當主語是代詞、數詞和“數詞+名詞”時，enough才可作表語用，如果主語是名詞，enough便不能作表語用了。如：(1)

Ⅰ.修飾形容詞和副詞,且必須放在它們之后。如：

當enough和另一形容詞同時修飾一個名詞時,有兩種不同的位置。

Ⅰ.enough放在形容詞之后，此時，enough

修飾形容詞時，結構為“adj.+

enough+名詞”,

表示“足夠…的…”,

Ⅱ、enough放在形容詞之前，此時，enough修飾名詞，結構為“enough+adj.+名詞

”，表示“足夠多的…”，如：

我沒有足夠多的大釘子來修理碗柜。一、該結構的基本形式為“形容詞或副詞+enoughto+動詞原形”，其意為“足夠地…可以…”：Heisoldenoughtotakecareofhimself.他大了，能照顧自己了。enoughto的用法Willyoubekindenoughtoshutthedoor?可否勞駕把門關上?Sheisoldenoughtotravelbyherself.她年紀夠大，可以獨自旅行了。Istheriverdeepenoughtoswimin?在這條河里游泳水夠深嗎?該句型有時可與so[such]…that結構轉換：Heisrichenoughtobuyaplane.他很有錢，可以買一架飛機。→Heissorichthathecanbuyaplane.他很有錢，可以買一架飛機。【注】若enough前出現否定詞，則不僅否定了enough，而且也否定其后的不定式：Hewasnotstrongenoughtodothework.他不夠強壯，不能做這工作。Heisnotstrongenoughtoliftthebox.他力氣不夠大提不起這個箱子。有時該句型也可與too…to句型轉換：Heistooyoungtogotoschool.他太小，還不能上學。→Heisnotoldenoughtogotoschool.他還不夠大，還不能上學。“too＋形容詞／副詞＋動詞不定式”結構簡稱為“too...to”結構。在大多數情況下表示否定意義，通常可譯為“太……而不能……”、“太……無法……”。

句型I：too＋adj./adv.＋to

do這個句型是too...to的最基本的常用句型。too＋形容詞或副詞，有時too后也可跟一個起形容詞作用的過去分詞。如：too…to的用法The

boy

is

too

young

to

school.這男孩年齡太小，不能上學。

The

hat

is

too

large

to

wear.這帽子太大，沒法戴。

句型II：too＋adj./adv.＋forsb./

sth.to

do

在“too...to”結構中加上一個for

sb./sth.,以提示動詞不定式的邏輯主語，可以起到一定的限制作用，

即限制不定式所表示的動作行為只是就它的邏輯主語而言的，對于其他人或物則不一定是這樣，這就使句子意思更具體、明白。例如：

well.英語太難，我學不好。(具體指出誰學不好，只是我學不好，可能別人學得好。)

This

question

is

too

difficult

for

me

to

answer.這是一個我不能回答的難題。

使用這個句型要注意以下幾點：

1.如果用介詞for引出to＋動詞的邏輯主語，而且該邏輯主語又是to＋動詞動作的執行者，to

do就要用主動式。如果該主語是to＋動詞動作的承受者，則須用被動形式。2.在這個句型中，句子主語和不定式的賓語是指同一個事物，則賓語不能重復，必須省掉，有時甚至其后的to

do也可以省去。請試譯：

①這個箱子太重，我搬不動。

誤：This

3.帶for

sb./sth.的“too...to”結構應是以物為主語，for

sb./sth.可以省略，并不會影響句子否定意義的表達。如果原句以人作主語，一般來說就沒有必要加不定式的邏輯主語了。例如：

bus.

太晚了，我們趕不上那趟早班公共汽車了。

注意：下列情況下，“too...to”結構可以表示肯定意義：

“too...to”結構之前帶有but,only,all,never,not時，是強調肯定的表示法，譯作“非常……”、“十分……”、“實在……”、“真是太……”等。如：
