素質教育中的升學行為研究
Introduction
Qualitativeeducationfocusesondevelopingtheoverallpersonalityofthestudentinsteadofonlyemphasizingonacademicscores.Itsaimistoimprovestudents'socialskills,personalityandenhancetheircreativityandinnovativethinking.However,theconcernofwhethertheconceptof"qualitativeeducation"hasderailedfromtheessentialperspective,whichistoprovidethechildwithholisticeducation,preparednessforfuturejobprospects,andalsoincorporatesculturalandmoralvaluesthatwouldenablethemtobecomebettercitizens,isapersistentworry.Inrecentyears,therehasbeenagrowingtrendofobsessingoveracademicscoresandsecuringadmissionstoprestigiousuniversities.Therefore,thispaperundertakesastudyonthebehaviorofstudentsregardingtheacquisitionoffurthereducation,whichisaconcernwhenitcomestoqualityeducation.

Theconceptofqualitativeeducationincludesacademic,moral,andphysicaldevelopmentofastudent.However,theacademicaspectdominatestheideaof'qualitative'education,especiallyintheAsianregion,wherethereisatremendouspressuretoscorehighinschoolandcollegeentranceexaminations.Thesystemof"qualitativeeducation"seemstohavedivertedfromtheholisticapproachtowardsacquiringgradesandacademicaccomplishments.Students'behaviortowardsacquiringhigherstudiesisasignificantconcernregardingtheissueofqualitativeeducation.TongandLo(2017)conductedastudyintheChineseregionregardingthestudents'behaviortowardsacquittinghigherstudies.Thescholarsnoticedthatdespitetheconsiderablyhighcostrequiredforattendingprivateschoolsorprivatetuition,thestudentswerewillingtopayasitcouldimmenselyimprovetheirchancesofadmissiontobetteruniversities.Anotherresearch(Weaver,2015)conductedastudyinAsiaregardingstudents'motivationtostudyandperformwellinschool.Thestudyindicatedthatstudentsbelievedthattheironlyobjectivewastosecureadmissiontouniversities,andtheywerewillingtodoanythingtoachieveit.Thefindingsechoedthesamesentimentthatstudentswerewillingtoinvestinanyresource,whetheritwasmoney,timeoreffort,toacquireaplaceinaprestigiousuniversity.Additionally,astudyconductedbyLin(2016)intheTaiwaneseregionportrayedthatthetraditionalaspectofeducationintheregionstressedonacademicachievementsthatsolelyleadtoawell-payingjob.Students'parentsandteacherstoocontributedbyputtingimmensepressureonthestudent,andacademicachievementsbecametheprimaryconcern.
Methodology
Thisstudyemployedaqualitativemethodologythatusesfocusgroupdiscussions,semi-structuredinterviews,andsurveysforcollectingdata.Atotalof50participants,consistingofstudents,parents,andteachersfromtheAsianregion,wereselected.Thestudyaimedtoanalyzestudents'behaviortowardsacquiringhighereducationandtheimpactofqualitativeeducationonthisbehavior.Asetofquestionswereusedtoguidethesemi-structuredinterviews,whichconsistedofquestionsrelatingtotheeducationsystemandthestudents'perspectivestowardseducationandtheacquisitionofhigherstudies.
Results
Thestudyrevealedthatstudentswereanxiousabouttheiracademicperformancesandwerewillingtospendanyresourcesrequiredtoreceiveoptimalresults.Studentswereinclinedtowardsenrollinginprivatetuitionsandattendingprivateschoolsthatwouldhelpthemwiththeiracademics.Parentsputimmensepressureonthestudents,whichinturnputextremestressonthestudents.
Furthermore,thestudyrevealedthatthestudentsinthegivenregionmainlyperceivededucationasapathtoasuccessfulfuture.Amajorityofstudentsbelievedthattheonlyreasontopursueeducationwastoacquireawell-payingjob.Traditionalvalueswhichincludedbothscholarlyandmoralvalueswereoverlookedbythestudents,whoweremorefocusedonacademicsuccess.Teachersandparentscontributedtothemindset,astheypredominantlyfocusedonacademicexcellenceasthemainattributethatwouldyieldsuccessinlife.
Conclusion
Thestudypointsoutthatthoughqualitativeeducationstressesontheoveralldevelopmentofachild,thefocushasbeenshiftedtowardsacademicachievement.Studentsvieweducationsolelyasameanstoawell-payingjobandoverlookthevaluesinstilledinthemregardingmoralandculturaleducation.Thefindingssuggestthatthereisasignificantgapbetweentheideaofqualitativeeducationanditsexecutionthatneedstobebridged.Itisnecessarytoensurethatstudentsarealsoexposedtootherconceptslikemoralandculturaleducationthatwouldhelpthemlearnvaluesthatcouldshapetheiroverallpersonality.Thestudyrecommendsthatemphasisshouldbelaidondevelopingabalancedapproachtowardseducationthatwouldhelpstudentsrealizetheimportanceofeducationinshapingtheirlives.Thetraditionalapproachneedstobe
