too...to...太……而不能……

該結構表示否定含義。其中too為副詞,其后跟形容詞或副詞原級;to為不定式符號,后接動詞原形。e.g.Thissoupistoosaltytoeat.這湯太咸了,不能喝。

【特別提醒】too...to...結構中,當too前有否定詞(如never)時,表達肯定意義。e.g.It’snevertoolatetolearn.活到老,學到老。

3.Iusedtothinkitwaseasytogetcleanwater.我過去常常認為得到干凈的水很容易。

usedto過去常常(做)

表示過去存在或經常發生,但現在已經不存在的動作或狀態,后接動詞原形,不與確定的過去時間狀語連用。

否定形式是didn’tuseto或usednotto(usedn’tto)。e.g.Weusedtotalkabouteverything.我們曾經無話不談。e.g.Hedidn’tusetowearglasses.=Heusedn’ttowearglasses.他過去不戴眼鏡。

【拓展】beusedtodosth.表示“被用來做某事”,相當于beusedfordoingsth.。be/getusedtodoingsth.表示“習慣于做某事”。e.g.Theknifeisusedtocutfruit.=Theknifeisusedforcuttingfruit.這把刀是用來切水果的。e.g.Peopleshouldgetusedtotravellingbypublictransportation.人們應該習慣于乘坐公共交通工具出行。
