Therealdifferencemaker,though,isthevehicle’sspecialCO2filter.TheZempurifies
(凈化)theairthroughthespecialfilterwhiledriving,capturingtheCO2andstoring
it.Itisabletoabsorb2kgofCO2for20,000milesayear,meaningtencarscouldstore
asmuchcarbondioxideasanaveragetree—asignificantamountwhenconsideringthe
world’sbillioncarsarecurrentlyoneofitsleadingsourcesofemissions.
Evenifthetechnologyisn’tadopted,theteamhopethattheircarcaninspire
automakerstostartmakingcleanervehicles.“Wewanttoencouragetheindustryby
showingwhatisalreadypossible,”theleaderoftheteamsaid.“If35studentscan
design,developandbuildanalmostcarbon-neutralcarinayear,thentherearealso
