很久之前在一個(gè)小村莊里住著婆羅門(mén)人,他們一起長(zhǎng)大成為了好伴侶。其中三個(gè)人學(xué)問(wèn)淵博,剩下的那一位卻大多數(shù)時(shí)間都在吃和睡,大家都認(rèn)為他很蠢。后來(lái)一場(chǎng)饑荒攻擊了村子。四個(gè)好伴侶打算離開(kāi)。在途中他們碰見(jiàn)了一堆獅子的骨頭。其中一個(gè)博學(xué)的人說(shuō)他能把獅子骨頭變成活生生的獅子……

Astheywerewalkingthroughtheforest,theycameacrossthebonesofananimal.Theybecamecuriousandstoppedtotakeacloserlookatthebones.

TheCrowlookeddownattheflockofsheeptodecidewhichsheephewanted.
Justbelowthetree,bytheShepherd,abig,oldRam8wasgrazing.Hehadcurlinghornsandathickheavyfleece.
Aha!Heshouldbeagoodmealforme!thoughttheCrowgreedily.Hewasveryhungryandthethoughtofalargejuicyramforlunchmadehismouthwater.
TheCrowswoopedsilentlyandswiftlydownontotheRam,justashehadseentheEagledoandgraspeditfirmlybyitsfleece.
‘Andnowtoflyoffwithittomynest,saidtheCrowtohimself.Heflappedhiswingswithallhisstrength,butcouldnotlifttheRam.
TheRamwaslarge.HewasmuchtooheavyfortheCrowtocarry.TheCrowtriedagainandagain,butwithoutsuccess.
TheRamfelttheCrowonitsbackandwasmostannoyed.Justwhatdoyouthinkyouaredoing,youpeskybird?hesnapped,glaringathimoverhisshoulder.
TheCrowflappedharderstill,tryingtocarrytheRamaway.

TheCrowtriedtoflyaway,buthefoundhecouldnotmove.HisclawswerecaughtintheRam’sthickfleece!TheCrowpulledhisfeetthiswayandthat.Heflappedhiswingsashardashecould.Butnomatterwhathedid,heonlyseemedtogetstuckmorefirmly.
